The fact that this compilation was originally released in 2000 might explain why Dimitri From Paris seems to have gone slightly against the grain on this set, selecting tracks that have no real connection to the Italo sound that continues to be such a focal point for modern day disco archaeologists. The tracks here all fit into a funkier, slightly more tongue-in-cheek feel, where hand-played percussion and extravagant string sections are more the order of the day than Euro-centric ice-cool synth lines and fashionably aloof female vocals, as would surely be the case on any disco collection released in 2008. In addition to the unmixed tracklist there's a seventy-four minute mix supplied by Dimitri that's a terrific exercise in kitsch '70s party soundtrack strategies.
