Germany's foremost practitioner of crackle-infused dub atmospherics seems keen to emphasize his music's reggae DNA here: the organ melody of 'Wipfel' sounds like the hook from a Jahtari digi killer put through the Berlin blender. 'Wurzel' is similarly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but with a fiercer skank on it, and a more minimal, focussed sound design. The highlight for many though will be Pole's own dub of 'Wipfel' - in which he hollows out the original, filling the space with extra sub-bass pressure and some rude echo FX. Without a doubt, Ayshay's 'WARN-U' is one of the most original and spellbinding singles of 2011, and an artistic step-up for the already formidable Tri Angle imprint. Ayshay, meaning "whatever" in Arabic, is a handle for Fatima Al Qadiri, a New York City-based sonic sorceress born in Senegal and raised in Kuwait, who also writes a fantastic column on contemporary world music for the bizarro DIS magazine, sometimes accompanied by her kaleidoscopic, 'net-foraging mixtapes. These breathtaking tracks comprise her first release, and although we've become deeply familiar with their youtube videos for over a year now, it's a blessing to finally have them in the physical realm for tactile gratification. Each song is built entirely from her own pitched and layered vocals in a manner distinctly reminiscent of Grouper's ethereal harmonising, but more intriguingly inspired by the Islamic religious songs she's absorbed since childhood. Their impact distinctly recalls the emotion-enhancing autotune effect favoured by so many North African and Middle Eastern pop artists for its emphatic effect, but is still seen as distasteful in certain swathes of supposedly "forward thinking" western ears. Yet in our opinion it refracts a transcendent emotive clarity which frightens us to be quite honest, and keeps us returning to this trio of songs more times than a sane person possibly should. Furthermore, the accompanying Nguzunguzu megamix gives the tracks a crafty junglist context in a lineage of Arabic pop/hardcore dating back to the likes of Lennie De Ice sampling Factory Records' obscure Algerian Rai release 'N'Sel Fik' by Cheba Fadela. Ultimately, for seekers of mystical sublime frequencies from the near future, this record is just beyond essential...www.boomkat.com

To date Don's done Techy House fusions for Phonica's white label series and self-released a small clutch of Bass grooves besides engineering duties for DJ Harvey, but for our $, this is his best yet. A-side is a pumping number called 'Balboa' fusing springy bass hits with surging rave signals and canny sense of syncopation somewhere between Dance Mania's maddest moments and latinzied Joe-style groove. London-based Patten has been operating on the fringes of electronic music for a couple of years now, with some reputable CD-Rs and other low-key releases under his belt, but this debut album proper for No Pain In Pop is a revelation, presenting a prismatic vision of narcotic, wonked-out, grid-dissolving house aimed at the cerebellum rather than the dancefloor. It's reminiscent of all sorts of things - the slanted techno of Diamond Catalog and Container, the hyper-kosmische of Bee Mask, the most disturbed Omar-S productions, and particularly the rich, isolationist machine-funk of Actress. It's chopped and glitched up to high heaven, but its grooves are true - we refer you to 'Blush Mosaic', which sounds like Boards Of Canada trying to make Chicago jack tracks through a hydroponic haze, or 'Fire Dream', with its hovering Detroit synth pads subjected to intensive Hud Mo or Rustie-style processing. The aesthetic is perfectly honed and executed: dense 4/4 psychedelia that is just madly engrossing. 'Out The Coast' is incredible, arpeggios and miasmic vocal layers – the perfect soundtrack for sunbathing on JG Ballard’s Terminal Beach. Elsewhere there's a diffracted, broken hip-hop quality that suggests superior mid-90s IDM re-wired for the hypnagogic generation. Distal's arrived in a big way in 2011, and his debut for Sinden's Grizzly is possibly his strongest release yet. 'Boss Of the South' is fractally busy yet solidly rolling, flicking in fragments of mentasms, 8-bit chirrups and Jukin' sample stabs, while the muscular, rolling subs lock it down for the dance, and 'Coke Bottle' works percolating Toms like Chicago's finest, but with a laidback Southern tilt that's more compatible with UK 'floors. Remixing, Sinden evens the keel with a rollin' 4/4 rework of 'Boss…' and Capracara drops some sexy New Jersey swing vibes with a kinky infusion of rave dirt, while Wheez-ie freaks out two uptempo Footwork versions of 'Coke Bottle'...www.boomkat.com

Marked out as one to watch by ourselves back in January, Blawan has more than proved us right, debuting on R&S with the Bohla EP and following it with an array of essential productions and remixes. Top of the list naturally was that massively popular white label “Getting Me Down”, as well as a stellar contribution to the Hessle 116 & Rising comp, and the honour of remixing arch Oxford miserablists Radiohead.

Furthermore the Yorkshire lad has undertaken a new project with fellow R&S alumni Pariah in Karenn, as well as collaborating with Analogue Cops on a forthcoming Restoration twelve. News of the release of “What You Do With What You Have” will please the thousands of people that have been streaming a YouTube rip since it got aired on Rinse back in the spring.

It’s understandable too, as “What You Do With What You Have” twists a mangled sample of KDJ through the Blawan mixer of gnarled out acid lines, thumping drums and cavernous techno stabs. Rafael Anton Irisarri - Reverie (Second Edition)

Arriving around the same time as his greatly anticipated return as The Sight Below, this new LP from Rafael Anton Irisarri shows a different side to this talented composer/producer. Reverie pairs two brand new compositions with an interpretation of Arvo Pärt's classic 'Für Alina', arriving in an edition of 450 copies pressed onto black virgin vinyl, complete with download code. The A-side begins with 'Lit A Dawn', a typically dense and immersive composition that integrates pensive, tentatively paced piano figures with arcs of vaporous background ambience. The compressed and muffled quality of the recording only heightens the impact of the music itself: as slow and purposeful as it may be, it somehow also feels as if its on the verge of rupturing or breaking at the seams. After this lyrical opening, 'Embraced' takes on a more mysterious quality, sliding what seems to be submerged guitar figures across Eastern-style scales while a soupy, filtered production style lends an aloof, washed-out feeling. Taking up the entirety of the B-side, the extended 'Für Alina' is rendered with a reverent beauty, observing the meditative economy of Pärt's triadic 'tintinnabulation' style. Here the bell-like sonorities prompted by sustaining overtones is as important to the central harmonies themselves, and Irisarri certainly exhibits an understanding of this kind of detailed approach to minimalism. The piece is supremely graceful, dictated by a free flowing tempo and a mood of poised introspection. It fits Irisarri's own style of composition and performance perfectly, and he makes for an apt interpreter...www.boomkat.com

Ultra-crisp, hard-bodied future flexes from Pangaea, dropping one of his deadliest singles to date. The man's hardly known for his high work rate, releasing only a handful of records since he started in 2008, but he's evidently born of a rare breed who exert exacting quality control over their music, hence one of the most definitive catalogues in the modern Bass music canon. Disciplined, and distinctively rooted rhythmic control coupled with the keenest production values keep his tracks timelessly futurist, and no more so than 'Hex', a tautly syncopated and wickedly weighty ragga-jungle update infused with the nattiest chat and sci-fi dread synths to invigorating standards. The flip to this is 'Fatalist', an equally robust and dutty swinger, keeping the pressure locked deeper in the pocket with shredding drum shuffles and an LFO tweaked bassline begging for badman/gyal behaviour on the 'floor. Dexter's music ranges quite widely, so it's surprising to see Clone pick up some of his least four-four tracks for a label that until now has only released house and techno. "Great Northern Diver" is very neatly executed sun-drenched dancehall, with frantic tin-pan rhythms and a huge percussive riff swooping over the top. "T.H.I.N.G." has a much more laidback beat, and is submerged in layers of dubby synths. The chopped up female vocals make it sound like a kind of ominous, futurist version of "Girls Like Us" by B15 Project. "Bo Dyned" drifts along with its head in the clouds and a grounding of deep bass and overtly restrained kicks. Whether this release is a sign that the label's broadening out or just a one-off is anyone's guess. What is obvious is that it's one of its best yet...www.residentadvisor.net

Back in June, classic IDM duo Plaid announced that they'd be hitting up Canada on their fall North American tour. Well, it turns out that they'll be promoting a new album while they're here. The long-awaited new disc Scintilli will arrive on September 26 via Warp.

The collection will be available as a double-LP or a CD. Music seller Bleep writes that the latter will be housed in a "'Muda na Mono' puzzle pack, the name taken from a Japanese phrase meaning 'pointless object'. It contains two die-cut rings and a CD which can be assembled as per the diagram above. If correctly aligned, the sphere created allows the track titles to be read. The packaging reflects a desire to give the CD an ornamental function, beyond its one use as a basic storage device for music."

Luke Slater will return to Ostgut Ton under his Planetary Assault Systems moniker with a new album, entitled The Messenger, due out in October.

Slater has already released one PAS album, Temporary Suspension, through Ostgut Ton in 2009, which saw him incorporate recent trends in European techno into his own style. With The Messenger, Slater promises to “create new sounds which are not otherwise present in club music at this time”.

The press release promises a strongly club focused album, with Slater reportedly carefully testing all of the tracks and subsequently editing them for maximum impact. Beginning with the track “Railer (Further Exploration)” which supposedly eases the listener in with a “bubbling ether”, it moves on to the kind of dark and furious techno we would come to expect from Slater, with tracks like the deliciously named “Kray Squid” promising to pulse with magnetic energy, whilst the drum barrage of “Rip The Cut” supposedly offers the most rhythmically intense moment of the album.

In keeping with this club focus, the album will be available on DJ friendly 2×12″ as well as CD and presumably digital formats. After releasing their third full-length album since 2005 with last August’s Let It Sway, Springfield, MO indie-pop rockers Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin are moving forward with their next effort by plumbing the depths of their impressive back catalog.

In stores in October, Tape Club is a 26-track effort comprised of the band’s favorite unreleased songs and hard-to-find material. The tracklist ranges from demo material from 2005′s first release, Broom, to more recent work with Chris Walla for the Let It Sway sessions. Check out the complete tracklist below.
