Skream - Still Lemonade EP
01 Still Lemonade
02 Still Lemonade (Redshape Remix)
Is the world ready for a Skream album on Crosstown Rebels? News that Oli Jones had signed up to the Damian Lazarus helmed label for his third studio LP probably came as a shock to many, but really it fits in well with the development in sound of Skream these past few years. Whilst full details of that LP are yet to surface, Crosstown lay down a marker of how it might sound with this Still Lemonade 12" from Skream. In original form, the track is tech house at it's most immediate and colourful and is complemented by a remix from Redshape that veers off into rhythmic abstraction nicely.. www.juno.co.uk

Skream - Exothermic Reaction
1. Exothermic Reaction
2. Future Funkizm
Scorchingly fierce and forward Dubstep sound designs. The last time Skream appeared on Nonplus was coincidentally one of his finest moments in years with the 'Minimalistix' session, and this one is about the best we've heard from him this year. A-side 'Exothermic Reaction' is an exhilarating transfer of dancefloor energies, charging up a beastly, club-razing metallic synthline over 4/4 to halfstep rhythm switches. B-side 'Future Funkizm' is a cheezy title, but the track is a pure killer, built with the boldest sound design imaginable. For the cutting edge types...www.boomkat.com

Skream - Kinky / Assumptions (Benga Remix)

a. Kinky
b. Assumptions (Benga Remix)
Prime cuts from the dubstep dreamteam aka Skream and Benga on Transition's in-house imprint, Ringo. We're left blushing at Skream's 'Kinky' which uses samples of a girl in the middle of a particularly strenuous rave workout, while Benga revises the classic 'Assumptions' to great effect. Making up for a dearth of recent material, he adds a sinister dread tension and bubbling elastic synths to the vocals of the original making this an indispensable 12" for the tru-skool dubstep fiends...www.boomkat.com

Skream & Cluekid - Sandsnake / Movin Snares

a. Skream & Cluekid - Sandsnake
b. Skream - Movin Snares
After much speculation the debut release on Skream's very own "Disfigured Dubz" is finally with us - and its a blinder. The a-side collaboration with Cluekid revolves around a looped Amen Break and demented bass that are both so loud and crisp that it puts to shame anything else that's spun on our decks today - and that's before you even bring those shocking stabs into the equation. "Moving Snares" on the flipside finds our man operating solo and taking a few measured risks - primarily with the dense Technoid structure that dominates the track, enforcing those myriad rumours that the twin engines of dubstep and techno are soon to be conjoined into a single heaving generic mass that's going to take over dancefloors the world over. On the evidence given on this track - here's hoping. Killer twelve - upfront copies!

Skream - Skreamizm Vol. 5

A. Filth
B. If You Know
C. Simple City
D. One For The Heads Who Remember
E. Fick
F. Rimz
My personal fave..
Hold tight the dubstep crew, new Skreamizm has landed! The latest installment of the indomitable series comes bursting at the seams with anthems you'll have heard loaded, and reloaded at countless Skream sets over the last nine months or so and bears a few treats as promised from his recent Rinse mix CD. 'Filth' flies out the gates first and needs no introduction, you all know this one, it's a rinser. 'If you know' smackes it up a notch with some natty rolling Soca drums and mean dancefloor vibes, 'Fick' is an underwhelming midrange trotter, but 'One for the heads who remember' takes it back to the old school with some deep 2-step, 'Rimz' comes good again with a beastly f*ck-up smasher, and 'Simple City' gives it the vinegar strokes with some uplifting trancey feelings to leave you with that warm Skreamy afterglow. You know you need this...www.boomkat.com
